My daily routine
Covid has changed the world. In a lot of regards, however, I am unaffected. I’ve worked from home largely since leaving Fazeclan and we secured Wework space in the the seaport for the Cobbles literally the week before the lockdown began.
Here is my daily routine - all suggestions for improving are welcome! in a future post i am going to direct HOW i do things and this will need alot of upgrading!
3.30-4am - Up, coffee on, lemonade Ice tea in to the hydropeak!
4am - Notify engineering on slack “good morning” - respond to over night messages

Attacking Covid with Bluetooth technology by Apple & Google
Installed Xcode 11.5 (beta) in order to get access to the Exposure Notification API that they and Google have been working on together. This API introduces Bluetooth hooks that act as Anonymized proximity beacons feeding data back to shared government resources providing “effected user” and “exposed user” data to the country. Here is a look at the framework:
In layman’s terms - each opted in device acts as an intelligent distancing alert beacon - telling you (if you are opted in) when you are near and “exposed” or “affected” person as you move about the world. This is all completely and totally anonymous.
It’s absolutely incredible that two of our most innovative companies have come together so quickly on this - I hold out that technology will be our greatest response in the fight, and this is just the beginning.
The choice between Heroku and AWS for the backend.
We currently use Heroku for our production backend and just switched to AWS for our staging environment. Heroku is stable (mostly) but super expensive! WAY TOO expensive for what it is. AWS is less stable and cheaper. I think AWS eventually wins this but not quickly. We need to get Stage to be as performant as PROD before we consider migrating….
